This post is my personal method of farming gold to buy SP(soldier/silver pack) this method is partially mine because some of the parts is from the official nugging and stun farming guide but the down side of that nugging is only available in PVP/Banner events so i formulate a method that would be used in nexus farm. it will moderately decrease your potential in Nugging normally but will greatly increase your profits in Nexus events.
this method is a lot similar to Stun farming guide. while nugging is optional but highly recommended. to help you understand i will write the Nugging and stunfarming guide by Tim Huang.
Nugging (Updated 3/6/14)
The common red faction unit Nug has the absolute worst stats at lvl 1 in the game with only 10 power and 33 health*. As such, the term “nugging” refers to putting a team in your defensive slot that is very beneficial to opponents, often a very bad team. As I see it, there are three main ways to nug. Credit to Hawke for coining this term.
1) If you are under level 30, you may need all three of your slots for teams. For example, one for questing, one for PvP, and one for Stun Farming. In this case, it is most acceptable to place your Stun Farming team in slot 1.
2) If you are over level 30, you should be fine leaving slot 1 open for dedicated nugging. There are two methods that are widely used and very welcomed. The first, is to help people who are new to the game succeed in PvP events. Simply place your worst single unit in the back row so it does not get a health bonus, and let everyone one shot you for banners. Props if you use a Nug! (I use a Ferelden Ash Warrior(s))
3) Alternatively, if you have a dedicated tank that you have been leveling up, many mid to high level players would be very grateful to see a single tank in the front row. This is meant to help others Stun Farm for gold. This is further explained below in the section “Against a single Red Faction Tank (PvP)”. Props if you use a Sten of the Beresaad or The Arishok! I would not recommend using Arcane Horror or any Large Creature (LC) since the faction bonus is very significant.
Stun Farming (Updated 3/6/14)
Occasionally you will find a single Sten of the Beresaad (SotB) or The Arishok in PvP battles/events. This is because you have found an extremely nice person who is “nugging”! At max level, these tanks will range from 2246 health at Tier I to 2994 health at Tier 4, or 3369 and 4491 respectively with the front row health bonus. Now why is this extremely good? Because your stun team consists of 4 WHITE units!
After extensive testing, I realized that there are a couple very important things for stun farming.
1) Critical Hit Bonus: The progression is 20-25-30-50-100-10-10-…-10-10 so you basically earn 225 for the first 5 crits and 10 each thereafter
Faction Bonus: This is ridiculously important! +10 gold per hit!
2) Round Limit: Fights can only go to 10 rounds! So try to make your fight last as long as possible and deal as little damage per round as possible
3) Winning a Fight: You only have to deal more damage, you do NOT need to kill your opponents
4) Critical Hits past 5 are irrelevant due to faction bonus: White faction bonus is 10 gold and for two hits that's 20 gold. Landing a critical hit after the first 5 does the exact same thing by dealing double damage and getting 10 faction +10 crit gold.
5) Using 4 Ferelden Ash Warriors (FAW) against a Tier IV Arishok/SotB will last ~9 rounds with 5 crits: You will need to have FAW's with 11-14% crit chance for 5 crits. I personally recommend getting them to 15% to almost guarantee 5 crits. (I accidentally went past this and my back row has 18% crit chance)
Calculations:
[11% crit] 9*(.11*1.5*2+.11*2)=4.95 crits on average
[14%crit] 9*(.14*1.5*2+.14*2)=6.3 crits on average
[my setup] 9*(.18*1.5*2+.15*2)=7.56 crits on average
As you can see, SotB here has 4451 health. FAW I max level has 81 power. That means it will take 55 hits (crits count for 2) to take it down. If faction bonus is really 4% bonus to damage, that reduces this to 53 hits. In theory, this would mean 27 normal hits and 13 crits... But I'm definitely not critting that much and I always seem to kill him in round 9... I think I'm leaving out a damage bonus for white vs red. My estimation would be that that increases damage by 25%? since that would give me ~27 normal hits and ~7.5 crits for 41 hits of 81*1.04*1.25=105.3 (but that seems really OP).
The formula i deviated is to use 3 IV FAW(ferelden Ash Warrior) or 3 II FK(ferelden knight) and silver halla if posible if silver halla is not available 1 tank with almost no damage like Stout will do but if silver halla is available please use any IV common toon but not white to avoid faction bonus. This way you can stun farm in nexus with great survivability and net not less than 1.5k to more than 2k every run in 5 Energy. it is true that if you see a SotB or Arishok in PVP or Banner event it will be easily defeated and net you less gold but you can earn much more in nexus which will be useful in higher LVL it will reek much more gold than usual and will give you better chances in getting Legendary toons.
this is my normal run in Daily Nexus event with no Gold boost rune. in this scenario the wish event is on which means enemy have larger Health and low attack which is perfect for gold farming.
this will be the start of the run
and this is the end of the run
